How to use personal titles

Personal titles are used before a person’s surname or full name.

We usually use personal titles in formal settings as a sign of respect.

Mr ➜This title is used to refer to a male. It doesn’t tell us the marital status. Therefore Mr can be used for any male adult. 👨🏻

Mr is pronounced as “mister“.

The title master is commonly used for young males usually under the age of 18. 👦🏻

Mrs ➜ This title is used to refer to a female that is married. 👩🏻

Mrs is pronounced as “missus“.

Miss ➜ This title is used to refer to an unmarried woman. It is also used when referring to young females. 👧🏻
